In the Presbyterian tradition, the Board of Deacons provides an ordained ministry supporting the sick and the elderly in the church family, reaching out to newcomers and strangers, and sharing the love of God through prayer and evangelism.

At Broadway Presbyterian Church, deacons also participate in ushering at worship. A deacon is available each week to congregants needing a companion in prayer, a listening ear, or an encouraging word.

The deacons of BPC also administer the Deacons' Fund which provides meals for the homebound, to persons recently released from the hospital, and new mothers. At various times, the Deacons' Fund has also been used to cover funeral expenses for the indigent, to help bring the needy to shelters, and provide other emergency financial assistance to friends and members of our congregation.

Deacons are available to the congregants and community of Broadway Presbyterian Church to meet almost any spiritual or practical need. We are eager to meet everyone who is a part of our church, and we encourage you to look to us if we can be of service in any way.
